Many students enjoy keeping themselves busy outside of school work, whether that be an extracurricular activity in school or even hobbies outside of the building. One way that many students like to occupy their time is by creating their own business. This not only helps students make money, but also helps them to learn the business world, setting them up for future success and potential careers. Cardozo senior Chadaé Woodberry does just that.
Woodberry really understands the act of balance, as she does it all. From her businesses she owns to being part of Cardozo’s dance program, she is a hard worker.
Woodberry currently has three businesses. “I have a skin care line, a baking business, and I also do a little bit of hair on the side,” she said. Some of those businesses have original names, such as “Sugar By Chadaé,” the name of Woodberry’s baking business, and “Empress of Soft Skin,” the name of her skin care line.

Woodberry has been doing these business for quite some time. “Quarantine, I started my first business which was the skincare line,” she said. “I feel like the lotions I would use weren’t working or they would just feel weird so I decided to just make my own.”
The high school senior makes custom body scrubs and lotions, which she packages and markets under her brand name.
But, her baking business has been around for even longer than that. “ I started my baking business when I was young with my grandmother,” she explained. “Every birthday she would bake a cake in the shape of a heart and I just loved the shape and her creativity.”
As far as doing hair, Woodberry explained that it came “naturally” to her. She tried to do her friend’s hair and realized she was good at it and could create another brand off of her talent.
On top of managing all of her businesses and her school life, Woodberry is also a very talented dancer. At Cardozo, she is one of the co-captains for both Ducc (Dance United Caribbean Club) and the step club. “My mom danced and my sister danced and my grandmother used to dance. It just runs in the family,” she reflected.
As far as her plans for her businesses after high school, Woodberry shared, “I want to continue my businesses and I want to still be able to balance my life when it comes to working, because I want to do actuarial science and dance at the same time.
“Dance helps me calm down,” she said.
There is no doubt that Woodberry will be very successful in the future. She has a great career ahead of her. Even now with all the stress of high school, she still pulls through and works — whether it is making sweet treats, custom lotions, or doing hair; she offers a little something for everyone.
