Junior Logan Nicholas Fox sustains one of the busiest schedules a student can have; being part of three different programs at Cardozo, keeping a job outside of school, and being a member of the Gateway board. He perseveres through his tight schedule and is able to manage his time with all of his programs and academics through determination.
Fox has been part of the Gateway program, NJROTC, and Liberal Arts programs. Originally zoned for Cardozo, he was persuaded to attend through his old neighbor who happened to also be a Gateway student when attending Cardozo. This began Fox’s journey as a Gateway scholar. From as early as freshman year, Fox showed interest in the program, curious about the scholarship opportunities he could receive through networking and hard work.
Now, after being in the program for the past two years, he stated that Gateway has not only taught him about responsibility, but also how to conduct himself socially and professionally.
Throughout his time at Cardozo thus far, Fox has accomplished plenty. Not only did he make it into the Gateway program, earning a spot on the board, he also was named a Junior 100, which is a prestigious program that teaches life skills. He also competed in a business internship seminar that won $500, as well as being ranked one of the highest in his class.
During his time in Gateway, Fox admitted that he had doubts about his abilities. However, Mrs. EJ, the Gateway advisor, inspired him and taught him to work hard to get what he wanted out of his life and his academic career. He ended up going after a board position in the program and earned a spot. Though he did not get the position he originally wanted, he still took responsibility and played his part in the position he received. Fox’s responsibilities as the hospitality promoter is to promote and take care of his peers when it comes to social and emotional health.
Representing the Gateway program is crucial for Gateway scholars. Fox explained how organizing his schedule and writing down reminders helps pace himself. He is an extremely organized person who enjoys having his week planned out for himself, which works well when it comes to balancing his busy schedule.
Growing up in a religious household, Fox finds that success is not just about personal achievement, but also proof of God showing up in his work. He lives his life heavily inspired by Proverbs and the Ten Commandments of the Bible.
In the future, when attending college, Fox hopes to study veterinary sciences. He explained that he has always been drawn to animals, feeling a connection to them since he was young. Although he juggles the path between engineering and veterinary sciences, he hopes to one day own his own veterinary practice. Fox also hopes to attend a big, well known university like Columbia, but also knows he will probably end up somewhere that is less costly for tuition.
Before graduating from Cardozo, Fox admitted he wants to make sure he leaves his mark. He works towards being a well known and respected board member of Gateway, and a peer throughout his other programs. He wants to encourage and inspire future scholars to push and do the best they possibly can.
