It has been a good season for Cardozo boys varsity baseball. Through dedication, hard work, and team spirit, the team has continued to showcase how to play well and enjoy the sport.
Through the early mornings of practice sessions and tough matches, the team has demonstrated that commitment is key to a successful year on the field.
A significant player in the current 2025-26 season is Sebastian Gomez. He is the senior first baseman on the team and is passionate about the sport. As he grew up playing baseball, he picked up several lessons throughout his time playing.
“When you play baseball, you learn how to deal with failure,” he said. “You do everything correctly, yet you still fail. The most critical part of success in this sport is taking the lessons from your mistakes and making the next attempt better.”
This attitude towards the sport highlights one of the major obstacles in baseball. In contrast to other sports, failures are inevitable. One cannot always score at the next attempt when playing this game. In Gomez’s opinion, the lessons he learned from baseball helped him not only during competitions but in real life too.
The importance of consistency and effort in sports is also important to Gomez. Even though games get more coverage than practices, all achievements of the team happen when players train, develop their abilities, and unite.
The second notable athlete is catcher Santino Sacristano. As he plays behind home plate, it means that this man is essential for every game. The catcher needs to coordinate efforts between pitchers and his teammates and direct the defense during each inning.
According to his teammates, Sacristano is a reliable leader who does not get distracted by pressure in games. In addition, he is able to motivate his teammates and provide good assistance during games.
All members of the 2025-26 baseball team create a positive atmosphere in which everyone can feel reliable, responsible, and devoted to common objectives. Due to teamwork and dedication, the team performs well and creates memorable experiences during competitions.
For sure, the coming seasons will be productive for the team since it has reliable leaders, such as a catcher and a first baseman, and active newcomers to the team.
