As there are many Broadway musicals being showcased currently in New York City, with many new ones coming as well. Living in New York, we are lucky to have Broadway shows right in our own backyard. Here are some upcoming Broadway shows in case you ever need an entertaining getaway or want to attend any of these shows in the future.
Hadestown
The story follows Orpheus (Jordan Fisher) and his journey on finding Hadestown in order to save Eurydice (Maia Reficco). It is a compelling narrative based upon Greek mythology and it follows the genres of love, hope, and loss. T
his musical is set to run from September 2024 to December 2024 at Walter Kerr Theatre. The musical has won eight Tony Awards (including best musical). If you’re looking for a musical that includes mythology, tragedy, and romanticism, then this musical is perfect for those categories. The show will have a runtime of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
La La Land
La La Land is an Oscar-nominated and award winning movie that was released in 2016. This has excited many fans since there will be a broadway adaptation for this movie. Although there haven’t been any recent pictures showing the Broadway show, dates have been announced for the years of 2024 and 2025. This musical adaptation is set to come to New York City on Feb. 1, and the Broadway cast is yet to be announced.
Hamilton
This story follows American Historical figure Alexander Hamilton (Lin-Manuel Miranda), and his life is narrated in two acts. Hamilton is a widely known musical and can even be watched on platforms such as Disney+, and it has won 11 Tony awards.
It has returned to Broadway for the duration of 2024-2025 and tickets are currently available, taking place at Richard Rodgers Theatre. If you’re looking for a historical montage with a mixture of singing and rapping, then this would be the ideal for a biographical musical. The show has a runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes.
The Great Gatsby
Based on the 1925 novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the Great Gatsby follows Nick Carraway’s (who will be portrayed by Noah J. Ricketts) narrative and interactions with Jay Gatsby (Jeremy Jordan) and his obsession to rekindle with his lover, Daisy Buchanan (Eva Noblezada).
The show was officially opened in April 2024 and won a Tony award for best costume design. The musical is set to release more information and tickets during the Fall of 2024, and has a runtime of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Back to the Future
Based on the 1985 movie, this story follows Marty Mcfly (Casey Likes) as he travels back in time to 1955 in a time machine built by Doc Brown (Roger Bart). It follows the plot of the movie with some slight alterations. The three-time award winning show will be ongoing from September to November of 2024, and has a runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes.
