Cardozo’s boys track team has won multiple awards and records throughout the 2025-2026 season.
Coached by music teacher Mr. Goldman, the team started their season off strong with the boys winning their first three-time victory in only the first week of the season. David Jun won the 55-meter dash and even scored the fastest time for PSAL New York City freshmen, with another Cardozo student coming in second. Ethan Lin scored highest for long jump and triple jump, as well. Mr. Goldman also shared that Zion Chu won the 300-meter dash and is currently ranked 4th in PSAL for boys track.
Lin holds the record for the longest jump and triple jump in the PSAL. Lin’s thoughts and motivation for this is to continue holding the record. This is is his first time being recorded in a league and he also feels motivated to hold his spot, too. Lin wants to continue to do track after holding his own record in the PSAL.
For the Spring season, his goal is to beat the record for sprint, the 55-meter, and 300-meter dash. Lin, who has been doing track since middle school, has never really been in a league or competition. However, he shared that track helps to keep him doing well in school. The track team, for Lin, is a great community and the environment is fun and enjoyable. He enjoys the fact that the team is so supportive of one another, cheering each other along.
Jun holds the record for being the fastest freshman for the 55-meter dash in the PSAL in New York City. Jun said that he has always wanted to be on the track team, and found he was pretty good at it after deciding to join. He likes that the environment can be fun, but during the races they know to be serious and do what they need to do.
He originally wanted to join the track team because of his middle school coach, who told Jun he had never seen talent like his. Now, Jun’s inspiration is to be the best of the best and make it to the Top 8 in the U.S. eventually. After taking track seriously in the 8th grade, he earned a state championship from middle school. He stays motivated by continuing to strive for the top spots, and his friends help push him forward and motivate him, too.
His plan for the upcoming season is to continue to hold his number one spot in the PSAL. He also wants to become number one in all of New York City, even outside of PSAL. He claimed that holding the top title is great, but he wants to also beat out students in private and other schools across the city, so he has training and catching up to do.
With the fall season coming to a close and Spring upon us rather soon, Mr. Goldman and the boys track team stay locked in and ready to earn even more top spots across the city and the state. These bulldogs are ready to keep on running.
