Cardozo High School has many athletic teams, one of them being Boy’s Varsity Basketball. As the players go through the four years and their game and skills improve, many hope to attend college and continue their basketball career. For four Cardozo seniors, their hopes have become reality, as they have signed and committed to play basketball for their future universities.
On June 13, four Varsity Basketball seniors were celebrated a signing day, where they sign their college commitments among their friends and family. At the signing, Darius Mihai committed to CUNY Queens College, Joe Puccio committed to SUNY Brockport, Peter Douvres committed to CUNY Baruch, and Joseph Ching committed to McDaniel College.
The entire basketball team was there and even the player’s parents. It was a very bittersweet moment for the seniors as their time at Cardozo is coming to an end—but, they’re moving on to doing bigger things at their colleges and plan to continue on their basketball legacies.
Claire, the Varsity Basketball team’s manager, said it felt good to celebrate these athletes. “The boys deserve it and I’m happy that they’re happy.”
One of the athletes parents shared, “I’m a very proud father. I’ve been through a lot of struggles with him from where he’s been and where he’s come to. He worked very hard and I’m very proud of him.”
Congratulations to the seniors who signed to their colleges—we wish you the best of luck in your next four years!
