Rising music artist David Anthony Burke, more commonly known as d4vd, has recently produced two songs featured in the TV series Invincible and Arcane.
“Remember Me,” created for Arcane, and “Feel It,” created for Invincible, makes a significant mark of growth in Burke’s music career from where he started. More recently released in season two of Arcane, the song “Remember Me” was released with the second part out of three parts. It plays as part of the soundtrack in the sixth episode of the second season as part of a flashback scene for one of the main characters, beautifully animated in watercolors, different from how the rest of the show was animated.
He created the song that fits perfectly with the scene, with the title “Remember Me” making his audience feel the emotions the characters experience in the moment.
The song reached over 30,000 streams on Spotify. Although not as universally popular on social media platforms as “Feel It” was upon release, the song is used by Arcane’s fanbase to create artistic edits of the show across platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
Burke created an additional intro version of the song that is also featured in the show, followed by the official song made for the visually aesthetic and emotional scene.
He recently played both the intro version of the song and the official version at the Game Awards on Dec. 12 of last week. He performed the song along with two other artists, Twenty One Pilots, and Royal & the Serpent who performed the songs they produced for different parts of the show.
The next song he made was released earlier this year. It had a significant scale of popularity across the media that allowed the song to have its own moment, apart from the show it featured on.
“Feel It” came out with the seventh episode of the season two of Invincible, released for fans to stream on platforms. A show about superheroes from comic books, the song was placed on a pivotal scene in the series, a scene of romance between the main character, Invincible, and his love interest.
On social media platforms, the song gained popularity by the masses. On TikTok, the number of posts using the song is over 41,000. On Spotify, the song was streamed over 200,000 times, and reached its peak at number 43 on Spotify charts.
Burke shared his inspiration for making the song in an interview with Genius for music-related media coverage. “The original inspiration for the song ‘Feel It’ was my love for animated media, and just animated things in general,” he expressed in July of this year.
The song passed its popularity amongst fans for the show where it was featured on. Reels and posts on Instagram feature the song while fans dance along to it, share edits of the show, or even make collages to their summer adventures months after the song was released.
On Nov. 18, Burke posted a video on TikTok celebrating these accomplishments by captioning it “me after making a song for Invincible AND Arcane in the same year [loudly crying face]” as he danced to “Remember Me” playing in the video.
On the topic of his social media, Burke hinted at making a song for the movie “Beyond the Spider Verse” in the video he released on TikTok on Nov. 27. He captioned it, “d4vds song was so emotional in Arcane i hope he makes a song for beyond the spiderverse [crying face].”
