McDonald’s is a popular fast-food restaurant that works to serve customers every day. Many people love McDonald’s and their food. However, this popular fast food place has increased their prices on the popular frozen drinks, from $2 to $3, causing some outrage among customers.
On May 30, 2023, McDonald’s launched their frozen drinks in three different flavors: cherry, blue raspberry, and Coke. Customers enjoyed this tasty summer treat as the weather got warmer. These drinks only cost $2 each, for all 3 sizes: small, medium, and large.
The price, however, has now changed for each size a small it’s $2.29 with tax, a medium is $2.49 with tax, and a large is $2.79 with tax, and with tax, it’s $3.04 in total.
Though the price increase is not too much, many customers aren’t buying the frozen drinks as much anymore. At one Flushing location, out of the 18 customers, only one person bought a blue raspberry beverage. The other customers purchased regular carbonated drinks.
Some customers, like Elizabeth, expressed, “My opinion on the increase of the price of the McDonald’s slushies is that I find it very disappointing since it just comes to show how inflation has gone up way more.
“It was a really good deal to get any size of slushie you wanted for only $2. Now just the smallest size is two dollars compared to before when you would be able to get the largest size for $2,” she explained.
Charlotte, who came with her son to McDonald’s expressed, “I noticed the price change, but I’ll still continue to buy the drinks. It’s not much of a change, but $2 for a large is a reasonable price.”
A McDonald’s customer went viral on TikTok, after expressing that in the near future, the prices of the frozen drinks will increase to $4.75. And many who viewed her video were extremely upset of the price increase. Celine said, “If they’re going back up to $4.75…There is no way I’m paying that.”
In a city where our daily life is based around money, we should remember to use our money wisely. Inflation is increasing in our world, and it’s pretty sad to see how the difference in prices is huge, however, inflation should not stop society from living, having fun with friends, and enjoying meals and beverages from desired stores.
