Are you usually bored over school breaks and look for something fun to do? Here are two events that are local and fun for you to explore with your family and friends.
1. Queens Craft Brigade Event
The first event that I recommend is the Queens Craft Brigade. Since 2017, they’ve supported small businesses and makers by hosting monthly curated events. Small creators can showcase their creations like food, artwork, jewelry, fashion, and crafts at their flea market. Their next event “Small Business Saturday” is held on November 25, 2023. To kick start the festive mood, their last event of the year “Holiday Market” will happen on Saturday, December 9, 2023.
However, don’t worry if you miss these events. Every weekend from 12-5 PM, there’s free admission! If you visit, bring your pet because it’s a pet-friendly market.

2. Whitney Museum of American Art: Open Studio for Teens
Whitney Museum of American Art is hosting a free creative space program for teens. Teens can grab a free general admission ticket at the Admissions Desk. Teens can bring in their work-in-progress pieces or create something new. The Whitney also encourages people who don’t have any art experience to participate.
All materials and supplies will be provided by them. To give everyone a comfortable experience, “The Hearst Artspace and the Seminar Room are equipped with induction hearing loops and infrared assistive listening systems. Accessible seating is also available.”
Just a heads up though, face coverings are required for this event. The next days the event is being held are Friday, December 1, 2023, Friday, December 8, 2023, and Friday, January 19, 2024.
