As fall approaches and the weather starts to get cool, everyone wants to grab a fall-flavored drink. Whether it’s an iced drink or a warm one, there’s no denying that getting a fall drink makes everyone feel better this time of year. There are tons of flavors to choose from, no matter if you are a coffee drinker or someone who just wants something sweet. Overall, when it comes to fall drinks, there is something for everyone at most local coffee shops, or nation-wide brands like Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts. We tried some of the latest ones on the market to let you know which ones are a must-try.
5. Nutty Pumpkin Coffee
The name of this Dunkin’ drink sounds perfect, however, the flavors didn’t live up to the name unfortunately. This unique drink combines “Dunkin’s Original Blend Iced or Hot Coffee with sweet pumpkin, cream, and a touch of hazelnut for the perfect pick-me-up to feel the essence of fall from August onwards.” It comes in both iced or hot, depending on your mood.
This drink was rated number 5 on the list just because it was lacking in flavor. It had a very bland taste and disappointed us both.
4. Pumpkin Spice Latte
That one fall drink that everyone seems to want and everywhere seems to have, the Pumpkin Spice Latte. While a lot of people go crazy over the PSL, when we grabbed one from Starbucks, it wasn’t living up to our expectations. Starbucks serves their drink with “signature espresso and steamed milk with the celebrated flavor combination of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove.” They also offer it “topped with whipped cream and real pumpkin-pie spices.”
This drink is overhyped and no actual pumpkin spice could be tasted at all. While it’s a staple of many people’s fall season, you won’t be falling in love with this one.
3. Apple Crisp Oat Milk Macchiato
Next up is the Apple Crisp Oat Milk Macchiato. This warm drink is perfect for coffee lovers. Starbucks makes this macchiato with “layered flavors of apple, cinnamon, oats and brown sugar harmonize with Starbucks Blonde Espresso Roast, creamy oat milk and spiced-apple drizzle to create a delicious apple crisp you can sip.” Truthfully, the apple accents fused well when put together with the bitter coffee taste and caramel drizzle. The coffee flavor is pretty strong in this drink, and it will definitely wake you right up. If you love coffee and apple spice flavors, this one is for you.
2. Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte
The Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte made the list for those who aren’t coffee lovers but need a pick-me-up beverage. It’s a good fall drink if you’re not a huge fan of coffee. Starbucks makes this one with their “rich and creamy Iced Chai Tea Latte- a blend of black tea infused with cinnamon, other warming spices and milk, topped with a sweet pumpkin cream cold foam and a dusting of pumpkin spice topping.”
There wasn’t a very strong caffeine taste like with other drinks, and the cinnamon flavor was not overpowering. It was a perfect blend with the timeless pumpkin mix that goes through fall every year.
1. Hot Chocolate
A staple and classic, our number one fall drink is the Starbucks (or Dunkin’) hot chocolate. A true fan favorite, whether you get it store-bought or even make it at home. Hot chocolate is a “can’t go wrong” drink. Starbucks makes theirs by combining steamed milk with chocolate-flavored syrups, and Dunkin’ mimics this recipe. However, you can also hit up your local grocery store and buy the box powder to make some at home, too.
Hot chocolate can be done up with whipped cream and marshmallows, or even done plain. What’s not to love?
