The Pineapple; Location: Dunmore Park, Airth, Falkirk FK2 8LU, UK
Located in Scotland, the Dunmore Pineapple is exactly how it looks like it. With its unique pineapple looking piece of architecture built in the 18th century because the creator, Lord of Dunmore wanted a summerhouse where he could admire the views from his home. He chose a pineapple as they were at that time one of the most exotic fruits in Scotland. The summerhouse has a private garden that one could now stay at or explore it for free during their time in Scotland.
Buzludzha Monument/Khadzhi Dimitur; Location: Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky
Located in Bulgaria, the Buzludzha Monument is a UFO shape made out of concrete that was created by the Communists in the 1970’s. It was created to celebrate the victory of Bulgarian socialism. After the Bulgarian Communist Party lost power, it was abandoned and closed off to the public. However, people can still get inside the building from the right side.
The Dancing House; Location: Jiráskovo nám. 1981/6, 120 00 Nové Město, Czechia
Located in Prague, Czech, the Dancing House was created by architect Frank Gehry. Inspired by a famous film dance couple (Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers), he created this building to make it seem like it’s dancing. There’s a gallery and restaurant with a terrace that the public could visit.
Hello Kitty Apple House; Location: 177-5 Nojimahirabayashi, Awaji, Hyogo 656-1724, Japan
Known for it’s cute things, Japan broke the Guinness World Record in 2022 when it created the world’s largest building shaped in an apple located at Awaji, Japan. It also has a roof that showcases Hello Kitty’s face which led them to break another record as it has the largest roof in the shape of a character. Inside the house there is a 360 degree dome theater, Hello Kitty Show Box and sweet treats. The roof has a garden themed photo spot and was named as one of “The Top 100 Sunset Spots.”
Five Thurloe Square; Location: 5 Thurloe Square, South Kensington, London SW7 2TA, UK
The Five Thurloe Square was created by architect William Douglas as there was leftover land after finishing the construction of South Kensington tube station. It’s a narrow and thin building; 6 feet wide as its narrowest.
