Summer break is coming up and everyone is looking forward to taking a break from school. However, it’s not always easy to occupy your time when you’re not going to school five days a week. There are a lot of kids who struggle to find things to do, while still having fun. Fortunately, there are a lot of great options to enjoy your summer break.
5. Volunteer
Volunteering is a great way to make a positive impact on your community, develop new skills, and make new friends. Also, if you are looking for a job, on your resume you could say that you have experience with volunteering, and if you are applying to colleges, you can mention volunteering as an extracurricular, which colleges love to see. The summer is a great time to volunteer, as you have an abundance of free time, so it’s a good thing to get into.
4. Go to the beach
With the extremely hot weather that summer brings, the beach is a great place to cool off. You could get into the water and swim around, and if you don’t like getting into the water, you could play beach volleyball, build a sandcastle, tan, read a book, walk on the boardwalk, etc. The beach is a fantastic way to just relax and take in the beautiful scenery.
3. Go to an amusement park or carnival
Carnivals and amusement parks are an extremely fun activity to spend with your friends in the summer. This activity offers thrilling rides, different varieties of food, and games. Some fun amusement parks include Six Flags, Coney Island, and AdventureLand. Also, the Astoria Park Carnival is returning from June 5–9; the time varies from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.
2. Have a picnic
Having a picnic is a wonderful way to spend time with your family and friends while enjoying the weather. While on a picnic, you could eat, have fun conversations, and play games. And for snacks, you could bring sandwiches, fruit, chips, soda, etc. This is an extremely affordable activity for the summer.
1. Go to a concert
Concerts are an amazing immersive experience that is a must. You’ll be able to see your favorite artists perform live music, dance, and sing along to it. This activity brings unforgettable memories with you and whoever you go with. Some upcoming concerts in New York this summer are Blink 182 on July 21, Justin Timberlake on June 25, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie on June 24.
