Cardozo High School offers many art classes like Mixed Media, Recycle Sculpture, and Cartooning & Animation for students who are interested in art. Ms. Salisbury teaches Recycle Sculpture, where you get to make artwork using a variety of materials.
Inspired by her father, Ms. Salisbury dreamed of being an art teacher ever since she was a kindergartener. As she calls it, she, “Married my love for art and my love for kids.”
Ms. Salisbury is also the Coordinator of Student Activities (COSA) who works behind the scenes of school events.
When asked how she feels about teaching, Ms Salisbury said, “I love it. I love teaching students about art. I love introducing them to the culture of art, the art history, techniques, and skills. I love passing that on.”
Moreover, she gets inspiration for art projects she incorporates in class from everywhere: from nature to industry.
During her free time, Ms Salisbury finds joy in traveling and spending time with her family. She also expresses her artistic skill by creating her personal artwork during that time.
For those who want to follow an art career, Ms. Salisbury advised, “Don’t give up on yourself. Always work on your craft. Always find time to make art. Expose yourself to as much art as possible,” showing support for them to follow their passion.
