Multiplex Cinemas has been around for a very long time, serving many customers over time with buckets of popcorn and soda, while they enjoy countless movies and films. Sadly, both Jamaica and College Point locations will be shutting down during Spring 2024.
This may be your last chance to watch that one final movie with a friend, family, or a loved one. The Jamaica Multiplex Cinemas is closing down on April 30th, and College Point Multiplex Cinemas will be closing on May 7th, so grab some popcorn and enjoy while these theaters stay in business.
Jamaica Multiplex Cinemas will be shutting down due to a business decision.
Showcase Cinemas explains,
“We are sad to let you know that Jamaica Multiplex Cinemas is closing. It has been our pleasure to serve the Jamaica community with great movie-going for many years. Due to a business decision April 30, 2024 will be our last day of cinema operations. We truly thank you for your dedicated patronage and hope you’ve created special movie memories with us.”
The College Point location will be closing down due to a business decision as well, being replaced by a logistic center—warehouses that companies use to store supplies.
Many customers who were enjoyers of these cinemas are devastated at the fact of the cinemas closing. “I’ve always gone to movie theaters as a kid, and even now with my husband we sometimes still go,” a customer named Mary explained.
“There’s nothing better than popcorn and reclining chairs, it’s all just the experience. Now with technology, everything is advancing so I understand why there’s no need for theaters but I’m still disappointed about the closing.”
Another movie enjoyer, Luciana, expressed, “I go with my friends sometimes when there’s a fun movie playing, but I like the movie theater more because you have a big screen and I get to watch with all my friends.”
Movie theaters are one of the many ways to spend time with loved ones. Before the Multiplex cinemas close, invite some friends to watch a movie. It’s a great way to have fun together!
