The prestigious College Senior Bowl is a game to showcase these players’ talents to NFL scouts and coaches. This can dramatically boost their draft stock for players not at the top of some teams’ draft boards.
This game was highlighted by multiple players such as Jaxson Dart, Dillion Gabriel, Ollie Gorden ll, Jalen Milroe, Riley Lenoard, Rj Harvey, Jack Bech, and several more stars.
From the start of the game, it was evident that this would be a good game. The National Team took the early lead with a flea-flicker play where the quarterback threw a backward pass to Ollie Gorden ll the Running Back, he then threw a 40-yard touchdown to Jayden Higgins.
The second quarter picked up from where the first left off as the American Team ran a flea-flicker play the running threw a lateral pass to Quarterback Jaxson Dart who threw a 45-yard pass to Jack Bech who was heavily contested. Dart would later run it in for a touchdown to tie the game.
Towards the end of the half, Jaxson got sacked multiplied times. This resulted in a strip sack where the National Team recovered the fumble. However, this excitement was very short-lived as Caleb Ransaw picked off the National’s Team quarterback.
During the fourth quarter, it became clear that any team could take the lead at any moment. The game came down to the final seven seconds as Seth Henigan found TCU Wide Receiver Jack Bech in the end zone to score a walk-off touchdown to win the game 22-19.
Now that the game has concluded many scouts are voicing their opinions on these players either good or bad. Ollie Gordon jumped up the team draft board as he showed his ability to run through contact, creating explosive runs each carry averaging six yards per carry.
One of the popularizing players that was negatively affected by this game was Jalen Milroe, as he was perceived as a potential QB three in this draft class. This would mean he would be the third quarterback taken off the draft board. However, his performance left a bad taste in these college coaches’ mouths. He threw the ball five times completing three of them for 21 yards.
This only showed how he was not able to process the field as 21 yards for five attempts is very lackluster for someone with as high regard as Milroe. Along with taking multiple sacks and running the ball three times. Scouts know he is talented athletically, therefore this only highlights his flaws as a passer.
TCU’s Wide Receiver Jack Bech recorded six catches for 68 yards and the game-winning catch. Scouts were thrilled at his performance as many teams did not have him high in the draft. It was a wake-up call as he has the physical capability to play at the next level as he is 6-foot-1, 214 pounds and he can smoothly get in and out of his breaks, with shockingly fast speed for his size and his yards after the catch ability. This leaves scouts to believe he will be a day-two pick in the NFL draft.
