Valentine’s Day, the holiday of love and romance, has long been celebrated with flowers, chocolates, and extravagant gestures. But is it possible that this beloved holiday is starting to lose its charm?
People have been celebrating Valentine’s Day for many years and yes, it is a nice holiday to be with your significant other, friends, or family members. However, I think that it’s an overrated and overhyped holiday.
The thought of only having one day to show how much you love someone is stupid. Why should there be one specific day to show your appreciation for your partner? You should do that more than one time a year. Plus, genuine gestures of love and appreciation shouldn’t be confined to a specific holiday.
One of the main reasons why Valentine’s Day is an overrated holiday is because of the pressure it puts on couples to make grand gestures. From expensive gifts to elaborate dates, there’s an exception to go all out. This can create unnecessary stress and financial strain, leading to disappointment if expectations aren’t met.
Valentine’s Day has become heavily commercialized, with stores bombarding us with heart-shaped chocolates, teddy bears, and extravagant gifts. The focus has shifted from genuine expressions of love to materialistic displays. This commercialization can make the holiday feel less authentic and more like a marketing scheme.
This holiday also puts a lot of emphasis on one specific day to express love and affection. However, love should be celebrated everyday, not just on a designated holiday. Small, meaningful gestures throughout the year can have more significant impact than one extravagant display of affection.
It’s clear that Valentine’s Day can be seen as an overrated holiday. The pressure to meet the expectations, the commercialization, and exclusionary nature of the holiday have led many to question its significance. Ultimately, love should be celebrated every day, not just on one designated day.
Let’s focus on genuine expressions of love and appreciation throughout the year, rather than confining it to one single day!
