Cardozo High School held its annual senior spirit week Nov. 27 through Dec. 1. This event lets the seniors stand out of the crowd, with every day of the week having a different “theme.” The days were jam-packed with fashion-themed days and fun comical ones, too.
Monday: Pajama Day
Tuesday: Twin Tuesday/Famous Duo’s
Wednesday: Anything But a Backpack Day
Thursday: Throwback Thursday
Friday: Senior Citizen Day
In the realm of senior spirit week, opinions vary on the most exciting event, but for Jonathan Johnson, it is unequivocally the throwback day. “I’m a fan of throwback because it’s so creative, and I can see other people’s thoughts,” Johnson declares. It’s not merely a day to showcase fashion statements from eras past; it’s an avenue for students to express their individuality and witness the diverse creativity within the student body.
Emma Issagholian, on the other hand, finds her excitement in the simplicity of pajama day. “I would say pajama day because it’s fun to be comfortable in school. And it creates a different atmosphere,” she remarks. Pajama day offers a break from the conventional school attire, fostering a relaxed ambiance and infusing a touch of whimsy into the school environment.
Beyond the themed outfits, senior spirit week is about creating lasting memories. Johnson shares, “It creates laughter and memories; I have fun with classmates and friends all around the school.” Issagholian emphasizes its impact, not only on students but also on staff, becoming a legacy that inspires future generations.
Reflecting on the evolution of senior spirit week, Johnson notes, “School spirit changed a lot, but now doing it, I’m just like wow I’m doing it.” Issagholian, once looking up to seniors, now realizes, “Now that I’m a senior, it’s like wow, I’m doing this now.” The journey reflects the essence of growing up in high school.
