Dear Reader,
Thank you for reaching out to someone. First, we know it can be very frustrating to deal with these issues alone. Bullying is hard to handle, and it’s important to know that you’re never alone, even when it feels like it.
Reaching out is the first step to help the problem. Reaching out to us here at The Verdict was a great first step, but you should also consider reaching out in person to a trusted adult, they can really help you with your specific situation. This can be someone you trust, like a teacher that you can turn to. Or, maybe there is a dean or a guidance counselor you feel comfortable with. Some students feel like this is “ratting” someone out, and snitching. However, it’s quite the opposite. The only way to prevent this from further escalating is to have someone who can help mediate the situation at hand.
There’s nothing braver than speaking up for yourself, you’re not a snitch or weak for wanting to feel safe at school or anywhere else this situation may be occurring. School is where we spend the majority of our time, it’s important that we feel safe and secure when coming every day.
Also, remember, it’s important to take the high road. When people are bullying you, whether it be in person or online, retaliating is never the best idea. Many times, we think that fighting back is the best option at first. But, this can make the situation way worse in the long run. Instead, reaching out for help is the best way to get a resolution and end whatever bullying you are going through.
Yours Truly,
The Verdict
