Mother’s Day is just around the corner, the perfect time to celebrate a woman in your life who has impacted you in a positive way. Mother’s Day isn’t just for moms though, it’s for all women who raise and nurture us — from grandmothers, to aunts, to big siblings.
To celebrate them, giving a gift to show appreciation is a common habit. While there are many gifts one can buy, there’s nothing that is quite as special as a handmade present. Here are some homemade gifts you can make that special person in your life for Mother’s Day.
Photo Coasters

Materials:
- 4×4-inch white ceramic tiles/wood tiles (or any base of your choice)
- Mod Podge (preferred glue)
- Cork Sheet
- Photos (printed to fit the base)
- Foam Brush
- Scissors
Steps:
- Prepare the Photos: trim your photos down to fit the size of the ceramic tiles.
- Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge on top of the tiles with the brush.
- Carefully place the photo on top of the Mod Podge-covered tile, and smooth out any air bubbles.
- Let the photo dry for about 20 minutes.
- Cut the cork sheet to fit the tiles.
- Flip the tiles and apply a layer of Mod Podge.
- Apply the cork sheet on top of the glue.
- Let dry and present to your Mom!
Sugar Scrub

Materials:
- 1 Cup granulated sugar
- ½ Cup coconut oil
- Essential oils (rose, lavender, vanilla)
- Jar, or any storage container
Steps:
- In a bowl, combine the sugar and coconut oil, and mix well. If too oily, add more sugar; if too dry, add more oil.
- Add the scent of your choice to the bowl, five to ten drops.
- Transfer the scrub into an airtight container, leaving it in a cool place until ready to be used.
- Decorate the container.
Bath Bombs
Materials:
- 1 Cup baking soda
- ½ Cup citric acid
- ½ Cup Epsom salts
- ½ Cup cornstarch
- Essential oil(s)
- Food coloring
- Water
- Molds (preferably silicone) of your choice
Steps:
- Mix the baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salts, and cornstarch into a bowl
- Add in a few essential oils and food coloring
- Spritz with water until the mixture comes together
- Transfer into molds and let them dry for 24 hours
Painted Flower Pot
Materials:
- Terra Cotta Pot
- Acrylic Paint
- Paint Brushes
Steps:
- Draw any design you want on the pot.
- Flowers, Swiggle lines, “Happy Mother’s Day.
- Let the paint dry, and bag it nicely (optional).
Lotion Bars

Materials:
- ½ Cup of beeswax
- ½ Cup of shea/cocoa butter
- ½ Coconut oil
- Essential oils (optional)
- Molds (preferably silicone)
- Parchment paper
Steps:
- In a pot, melt the beeswax
- Add in coconut oil, shea/cocoa butter into the pot, on low heat.
- Add in 5-10 drops of essential oil (optional).
- Carefully transfer it into the molds and let it sit for about one hour.
- After hardening, wrap it in parchment paper to keep it clean and presentable.
