Michaela Rinaldi is a junior at Cardozo who is a multi-sport athlete, in both track and softball. Not only does she have the talent on the field, but she knows the importance of teamwork.
Rinaldi is known for her leadership skills, as she always arriving on time for practice and puts in the hard work necessary to be really good in both sports. Her main sport is in softball, a sport she dedicates many hours to perfect her skills.
As a player, she plays the positions of second base and shortstop, which keeps her actively involved in the game, as these positions often see the most playtime on the field. She understands the importance of her role on the team. The shortstop plays a critical defensive role, positioned behind second base, handling ground balls hit to that area, while the second baseman covers the space between first and second base. This position requires quick reflexes, strong communication, and a deep understanding of the game, which Rinaldi has all. Her dedication to softball is seen in her commitment to training, as she stays after practice to work on her batting and fielding.
In her own words, Rinaldi stated, “All sports aren’t just physically challenging; they are mentally too. You have to love the game to play it and take all the practice seriously because it helps in the long run.”
