As the weather continues to improve and get warmer into the early days of April, the warm spring air unlocks so many opportunities to try something new. Many people are always looking for ways to spend their free time, and with such sunny days, there’s no better way to spend time than starting fresh and getting outside.
As we get into spring, many people like to participate in something called a “spring cleaning,” which essentially is all about cleaning your space and donating and getting rid of past loved things for new items to come. It’s a way to just take the opportunity to deep clean something you have been putting off for a while — such as, your closet, under the bed, junk drawer, or even organizing your cell phone.
The effect of participating in a spring cleaning can be beneficial not only for your space, but also can greatly improve your mental health, as well. Research shows that spring cleaning can help decrease stress, increase focus factors and can help keep calmness when you are surrounded by a clean space, and lastly it can increase inspiration and creativity.
Next, another spring activity that you can do with friends or loved ones is have a picnic. Picnics are a perfect way to bond with those around you. The amount of ideas are endless — you can order pizza or buy food from a supermarket, or, you can also make a homemade meal and homemade desserts.
Picnics aren’t just about food. You can also pack board games or a sports ball for an activity. Picnics are the perfect way to bond with your family and loved ones, while also enjoying the transition into the spring weather.
If you’re looking for something to do when the sun goes down — depending on which is more accessible to you — s’mores making using a campfire could be a great activity to do. An alternative option may be to make s’mores using an airfryer, if you don’t have a campfire around.
Additionally, an activity that you can do during the spring time is riding a bike. There are so many bike trails available and located all around Cardozo High School such as Oakland Lake, and others around Queens such as, Cunningham Mountain Bike Trail, Vanderbilt Motor Parkway, and Ally Pond Park Trail. All the trails listed will get you all over different parts of Queens. It also, at the same time, gives you great scenery of nature, animals, lakes, and ponds.
One other activity that you can do is catch up on some sleep during spring. Whether it’s during the break or after school, getting more sleep into your day can improve motivation, energy, creativity and it can increase your immune system. It can be beneficial for your health to take the time during spring break to improve your sleeping schedule and to get more than eight hours of sleep every night.
Lastly, with the temperature rising and there now being longer days of sunlight, another great and affordable activity is going on a walk along the beach. Going to the beach can provide endless opportunities of different activities that you can do such as dressing up and having a photoshoot, having a lunch outside, or even just going on a stroll with just some friends.
With the warm weather putting us all in a great mood, it’s clear there are a variety of activities to keep us occupied whether alone or with our friends and family.
