On Dec. 16, Cardozo’s music and dance departments hosted the annual winter holiday show, a staple of the holiday season for the school community.
The guitar ensemble began at around 6:00 p.m. with “Deck the Halls,” bringing a mellow, festive cheer to the start of the show. However, to bring more of a bright melody, a delectable duo in chorus sang a renowned holiday classic, “Santa Baby.” To add to this explosion of festivity, the Apprentice Dance class performed to a Holiday Medley. That obviously includes the mysterious Christmas tree, who was orchestrating.
Something not so mysterious but instead angelic would be Cardozo’s chorus class singing “Silent Night,” for a not-so-very silent night since the crowd was certainly cheering their hearts out for each part of the show all night. The dance by the Performing Dance class was just as elegant, dancing to “Dancing Swans (Vivaldi).” Truly just as elegant as real swans, which can be verified by the students and members of the audience.
“They performed so well! I almost thought they were actual swans for a minute,” shared senior Melanie Gonzalez.
In performances, the Symphonic Orchestra made sure to slay while performing “The Sleigh Ride.” The ground was shaking and the crowd went crazy, almost sounding like reindeers stomping. With such a popping noise, came the K-POP club making in their way to dance the night away, blowing our minds.
Chorus’s Acapella group sang “Let it Snow,” as well. They might just be the reason it ended up snowing on the last day before winter break. The song may be talking about the cold but their voices sure were warm to the heart. But, another thing that might be to warm your heart would be the Step Club, making it clear they get their steps in.
Not one, not two, but three wonderful performers sang “Santa Tell Me.” So, Santa make sure to tell us they belong on the nice list with that gorgeous show they delivered. Apprentice Dance also were the ones asking the questions, dancing to the song “Mary Do You Know.” Dancing in white, and making them look like angels — how angelic!
Jumping back with festive cheer, Intermediate Band made sure to set our sights on the holiday spirit as they perform “Festive Fanfare,” a great way to put a smile on all of the audience’s faces. With just the perfect follow up, having Latin Sensation Club dancing to the beat of a sensational rhythm. Having Artisan Dance doing Samba right after! And having Performance Dance performing “T’was The Night” was just the cherry on top, too.
The “Polar Express” was also performed by Wind Ensemble. With DUCC coming in hot right afterwards to melt all the chills people got. Keeping the audience glued to the stage however, was a classic Chorus Solo, performing “Hallelujah,” a typical holiday song for this time of year. With Artisan Dance performing for the second time with “Rockin'” to really make sure our nights were rocked out of this world! With last but certainly not least, Performing Dance with “Joy to the World” as this night definitely gave joy to our worlds.
We sincerely thank all those who came, the performers, helpers/staff and the wonderful teachers who made this all possible, but a special thank you to our mysterious orchestrating Christmas tree!
