As the fall term is making its way to the middle, midterms have come upon us right before our very eyes. It was just yesterday that we were starting school post-Labor Day. However, with Thanksgiving coming up, teachers are preparing to test students’ knowledge on what they have learned over the last several months.
Whether you’re a first-year student or a seasoned upperclassman, preparing for midterms requires hard work. For those looking for ways to prepare to the full extent, here are some ways to lock in and get it done.
Make a study schedule
- Plan out specific hours for each subject and divide your study materials into manageable parts

- In order to get a better understanding of these subjects, spend more time studying them.
Use active learning skills
- Rather than only reading your notes, see if you can make flashcards.
- Study with a partner and try summarizing the work in your own words.
Review old work
- Familiarize yourself with the kinds of questions that may be asked by practicing old exam papers.
- This may also help with time management during the test itself.
Take regular breaks
- Burnout can result from studying for extended periods of time without breaks.
- Take breaks while studying to unwind and refresh your thoughts.
Stay organized
- Make sure that your textbooks, notes and study guides are all in order.
- Being organized will ensure that you find information faster and will less stress.
Stay healthy
