With the fall season upon us, the aesthetic to be cozy and chill is in full swing. The chilly weather, sweaters, trench coats, and pumpkin-flavored drinks—cafes are crucial to the list of “fall treats.” Whether you’re going for a solo date or with friends and siblings, cafes are the perfect place to wind down and escape the world for a bit. Fortunately for Cardozo staff and students, there are tons of amazing cafes right in our backyard.
5. Pairs Baguette

Located in Bayside, this cafe has high ceilings, big windows, and is perfectly spacious. They have a variety of snacks to eat on the side, like the Very Berry Pastry, or if you prefer something that’ll fill your stomach, the Pain au Chocolat croissant is a great option. They’re open everyday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.. This is the perfect place to go to after school to focus on some homework or study in a calming environment.
4. Bean & Bean Coffee

This is another amazing cafe where many people visit regularly to get some work done while enjoying some coffee on the side. Their location can be troublesome if you’re looking to go there after school, as it does get very busy, but there’s no problem in going during the weekends. Bean & Bean is very generous with their hours. They’re open every day from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.. Enjoy some coffee while getting focused in school this year.
3. Grey Cafe

In contrast to Paris Baguette, this cafe has darker lighting (as per the name “Grey” Cafe) in such a brilliant and beautiful way that’ll keep you coming back. From Cardozo High School, getting to this cafe is a bus ride (Q27 Flushing) and walking distance away; in total, it’s about 20 minutes away. This cafe is better known for its coffee and wide tables, but you won’t regret trying their acai bowls either.
2. Cafe Auburndale

This cafe is only two short blocks away from Grey Cafe. They offer a variety of different ice cream bowls that are decorated with syrup, and anything that fits the theme of the dish, like strawberry syrup over a Classic Strawberry Banana a La Mode Waffle. As if that’s not enough, they’ve completed the cafe with bright lighting, and marble tables. These beautiful desserts make this cafe better for a hangout with friends as oppose to a study session.
1. Oasis Cafe

Unlike the previous cafe, Oasis Cafe has an outdoor seating area. The fence-enclosed space has trees hovering over, so there are areas for shade for convenience. It’s the most beautiful at night when the lights hanging above finally shine their brightest and add some decor to the area. This cafe offers just as good options for food, drinks, and desserts as the other cafes in the area, and offer a huge menu with both dinner and dessert.
