On Oct. 25, Cardozo held its annual Youth Halloween Carnival from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the area between the main building and the Annex. Families in the local community were invited to bring their children and other loved ones to help celebrate the spooktacular season.
Kids under 12 were charged $5, along with a guardian, to attend the festivities. Many of Cardozo’s programs, such as Leadership, Gateway, and Dance were there to help assist and spread the Halloween spirit. Other clubs, such as Key Club, were in attendance to volunteer, as well.
Students from the dance program put on an impressive performance for families and attendees in Halloween attire, showcasing one of Cardozo’s many successful programs.
Throughout the carnival, there were many activities for kids to enjoy such as ring toss, sac toss, mini basketball, pumpkin painting, face painting, and musical chairs. There was also a haunted area that cost an extra $1 admission for the older kids.
Inside the Annex, students were stationed selling treats and snacks, such as cookies, brownies, desserts, candy, and drinks like hot chocolate.
The school mascot, our bulldog, was seen periodically interacting with kids and stopping for selfies with students. Mr. Lavelle, an art teacher at Cardozo, was also in attendance dressed as a vampire, “floating” through the crowd on his hoverboard.
Throughout the night, there was music, cheering, and tons of laughs shared between families and students alike. The Halloween Carnival was a major success, and one that families will look forward to for Halloweens to come.
