Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting both men and women in the US. Early detection can significantly improve treatment outcomes, which is why we celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month every October to spread awareness and promote healthcare for women in need.
On Saturday, Oct. 19, the girls’ varsity volleyball team showcased their support by wearing pink during a tournament dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer. While they didn’t secure any wins, the players demonstrated remarkable teamwork and dedication, with chants echoing throughout the gymnasium.
Additionally, the Cardozo Leaders contributed by selling food and snacks at the front of the gym. Spectators and teams from other schools enjoyed delicious offerings like sub sandwiches, donuts, and bagels, helping to raise substantial funds for breast cancer research.
The event served as an enlightening opportunity to advocate for breast cancer awareness. The girls wore pink jerseys, and players from various teams displayed their support with pink ribbons and face paint, making a strong statement in the fight against this disease.
