Fierce and sassy, she never fails to deliver great songs. From her successful Renaissance album to her current Cowboy Carter, her creativity and range are unmatched.
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, also known as the “Queen Bey,” was born on Sep. 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas. Her mother, Celestine Knowles, was a hairdresser and salon owner, while her father, Mathew Knowles, worked as a Xerox sales manager. Beyoncé has two sisters: Solange Knowles, a singer and songwriter, and Bianca Lawson, an actress.
Before starting her solo career, Beyoncé was part of the iconic girl group Destiny’s Child, which was huge in the R&B scene from the late ’90s to the mid-2000s, alongside Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. In 2006, the group split up to pursue solo careers, and all three have since achieved success.
Beyoncé’s solo career shines due to the effort she invests in her music. Her upbeat, fast-tempo songs sound like pure happiness and empowerment, making them so much fun to dance to. As a dancer myself, I find her music incredibly fun to choreograph.
Beyond her musical talents, Beyoncé is a successful businesswoman driven by her career. Documentaries show her perfectionist nature and critical eye for detail which are qualities that all fans look up to and admire.
Along with her numerous hits, songs like “Halo,” with over 1.6 billion streams, and “Crazy in Love” featuring her husband Jay-Z are top of the charts. Recently, she released the Cowboy Carter album, a unique country vibe that marks a departure from her usual style.
One standout track from Cowboy Carter is “Jolene,” a cover of Dolly Parton’s famous song, that showcases her vocal range. The album’s most-streamed song, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” has garnered over 200 million streams.
