Hurricane Milton is one of the strongest hurricanes of 2024, causing a ton of devastation, specifically in Tampa, Florida.
The storm has been so severe that it forced Disney World in Orlando to close. Rising waters, ranging from 10 to 15 feet, have taken the lives of five people, and the hurricane has spawned at least 12 tornadoes.
People who live in the city of Tampa are currently trapped in their homes and apartments, many without power.
This deadly storm has left millions without jobs, food, or safety. Fortunately, the Coast Guard is evacuating families in the most affected areas. Hurricane Milton has traveled even further south, continuing through other cities with winds reaching 100 miles per hour, now hitting St. Petersburg.
Tornadoes have become synonymous with Hurricane Milton and have cause mass destruction in Tampa, demolishing homes like dominos. Houses are collapsing, and some are even sinking into the ground, putting residents, including children, adults, and the elderly, at risk.
More than 100 people have lost their lives, over 200,000 have been injured, and 500 families have been displaced.
Amid this devastation, there has been an outpouring of support from around the world. Donations are pouring in, with Walmart contributing $10 million, helping the relief effort raise over $20 million so far.
