Bouncing into Basketball and Cardozo: an Interview with Joshua Leddo

Joshua Leddo is a freshman at Cardozo High School. Aside from being a freshman, Leddo is a student athlete who plays basketball, earning a spot on Cardozo’s basketball team.

Being a freshman in a new school environment can be hard, however, Leddo makes it work. “The environment is different,” he said. “You have to stay confident and don’t let the bad energy get to you.”

Leddo said he has been playing basketball for his whole entire life. It was something that he was brought into as a child and it has stuck with him. He sees himself playing basketball professionally in the future and “going to the highest division and going to college for free,” for playing basketball.

Not only does he play basketball at Cardozo, he always plays at Spartan Pride. When asked how it is like playing at Spartan Pride he replied, “It’s pretty good, the coach is kinda intense but he’s just trying to get me better.”

Juggling a sport with school work is a challenge. Leddo said that, “It’s kinda difficult because I’m in advanced classes and it’s hard to balance two things at once because I have practice then getting home late then having to do school work.”

After high school, Leddo plans to go to college and hopes to get scholarships for playing basketball. When asked if he plans to go to the NBA, he said, “If I can of course I will take that opportunity but if I don’t, I’ll be a lawyer.”
