Softball is one of the many sports at Cardozo High School that is up and coming. This year, the Girl’s Varsity Softball Team Captain Catherine Lee is one of the many student-athletes at Cardozo, and she expressed her love for the sport and the game.
Aside from being a captain for the softball team, Lee is in the Da Vinci program and knows a bright future is ahead of her. “I’m not sure what I want to be when I grow up, but I think want to pursue a career in engineering,” she said.
Though Lee is still in high school, she is thinking about her future plans. “After high school, I plan to attend college and get a well-paying job. I would also like to travel the world.”
Lee is also considering her college plans as well, sharing, “After I graduate from high school, I am fairly positive that I want to continue being a student-athlete. Whether that be softball or another sport. I would like to stay active after high school.”
Interestingly enough, if it wasn’t for the passion to play softball, Lee would’ve joined bowling. “If I wasn’t on the softball team, I would be on bowling. Bowling is one of my favorite sports, along with softball. It’s a great stress reliever and it’s fun to play with friends and family,” Lee explained.
Being a student-athlete in high school needs a great mindset and a healthy motivation, for Lee it’s the love for softball that keeps her going.
“Being a student-athlete is challenging both physically and mentally,” she said. “What motivates me is my passion for the sport, my desire to improve, and the constant support from my teammates, especially my parents and coaches.”
Lee also shared a piece of advice to the freshmen at Cardozo High School, saying, “Join clubs and sports teams, that’s where you meet new people and create new friendships.”
