March Madness is an informal word used to describe the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men’s and women’s basketball championship tournaments, as well as the fan interest and media coverage that accompany the events. Regardless of how a team performs during the regular season, if they are eligible for postseason play and win their conference tournament, they are invited to the NCAA Tournament. These teams are referred to as automatic qualifiers. An at-large bid is the second option for receiving an invitation.
