Valentine’s Day at Cardozo High School was filled with bright colors such as pink and red, as the school hosted a successful spirit day to celebrate the day of love. This year’s theme was “On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink,” an iconic line from the film Mean Girls. There were so many students and staff wearing such bright hues of red and pink to celebrate spirit day, and everyone looked amazing showing off their Valentine’s Day looks.
Valentine’s Day has been known for the beautiful red and pink color scheme, but why specifically red and pink? Why not blue and white? Scouts and Molly’s believe these colors relate to Roman Mythology, “Red means love, symbolic of the heart, and the red rose of Venus, the roman goddess of love. Red and white, make pink.”
However, Elle Decor believes, “In a more literal sense, red is the color of blood that pumps through our hearts, which represents love and passion and romance.”
Though there are many perspectives on the meanings of red and pink, one thing is clear, these colors are always used for Valentine’s Day, and the students at Cardozo looked stylish in such bright colors.
