The Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl champions, once again. In Super Bowl 57, Patrick Mahomes managed a 75-yard touchdown drive in overtime that gave the Chiefs their second straight NFL title time, a 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
For Kansas City, the championship-winning drive was a must-score, highlighted by a fourth-and-1 rush by quarterback Patrick Mahomes and an important 7-yard reception by tight end Travis Kelce. Without this touchdown thrown by Mahomes, the 49ers would’ve had the chance to steal and win the game. The Chiefs had to respond to the Niners’ field goal as the NFL’s new postseason overtime rules guarantee both teams at least one possession in the extra period went into effect for the first time.
The Chiefs are the first team to repeat champions since the 2003-04 Patriots, snapping the largest such drought in NFL history. Kansas City has gone back-to-back and now has three Super Bowl victories in the last five seasons.
Mahomes has now three Super Bowl rings, trying to match seven championships with the greatest player of all time, Tom Brady.
Aside from the NFL teams, the biggest star of the night was Usher. His Super Bowl halftime performance was amazing, as his first guest performer of the night was Alicia Keys. Then, he brought out H.E.R. Usher drew on the wide range of his discography by performing an extensive mix of 11 songs.
He opened the show by dancing on the field with an ensemble of dancers while singing his hit songs ranging from “Caught Up,” to “U Don’t Have to Call,” “Superstar,” “Love in This Club,” “My Boo,” with Alicia Keys, “Confessions,” “Burn,” and “U Got It Bad.”
He then brings out the H.E.R., who has a song, “Risk It All,” with Usher, that appears on his new album. H.E.R performed a guitar solo during the performance of “Bad Girl,” while Will.i.am showed up to sing “OMG.” Usher closed out his standout show with a rousing performance of “Yeah!” alongside longtime collaborators Ludacris and Lil’ Jon.
A lot of people’s opinions on this Super Bowl were stated all over the internet. One of the most talked about things is Taylor Swift’s appearance due to her new lover, Travis Kelce, playing in the game alongside the Chiefs. A lot of people wanted her to perform while many others didn’t even want her at the game to begin with.
