With Thanksgiving just around the corner, many people are wondering ways to give back and give thanks. Thanksgiving season is the time of year when many try to do good deeds in their community, helping those in need. Every year, Cardozo helps students and staff get this task done through their canned food drive.
Cardozo is hosting its annual canned food drive from Monday, November 6th through Friday, November 17th. Students and staff are encouraged to support and donate to help those in need during this holiday season. Any non-perishable, unexpired canned/jarred food and dry goods are appreciated, but make sure to check the expiration date before donating.
The food collected will be donated to City Harvest, whose servers are in the New York area. “They go around to shelters and people who are just down on their luck and need a little bit of help, especially around the holidays, to make sure they have dinners for their families,” explains Ms. Salisbury. “For whatever reason, it’s hard for them to get food for their families and so City Harvest kinda fills in the gap.”
Ms. Salisbury adds that City Harvest works all year round for individuals in need, but Cardozo’s canned food drive helps to ensure that all families can have a nice Thanksgiving holiday together with the donated food.
For those who are interested in donating, the donations can be left in the boxes provided at our Main lobby entrance, and for those of you in ARISTA, you can bring your donations to the College Office in room 151. You will be able to get 1 credit for every 2 cans donated, for a maximum of 2 credits.
By donating to the canned food drive, you are helping those who are in need of food during the holidays.
