“Pink Together, Stronger Forever” is a quote being frequently shared to spread awareness for breast cancer. October is well known for being Breast Cancer Awareness month, and many teams and organizations sport pink and wear ribbons to show solidarity and awareness.
On Saturday, October 14, 2023, the Cardozo Girl’s Volleyball Team participated in matches to support breast cancer awareness and advocate for a good cause. The team played several matches against other volleyball teams such as Richmond Hill, Hunter, and Stuyvesant. Overall, Cardozo won second place against the other schools.
Throughout October, the color pink is used to symbolize respect to breast cancer survivors, and to those who have passed away due to the disease. The Cardozo Girl’s Volleyball Team is an excellent example of supporting Breast Cancer Awareness through the color pink. The team wore pink uniforms throughout their matches, which helped enforce awareness.
“I absolutely love the pink uniform, I think it’s super cute! And I love that it has the breast cancer awareness colors,” shared Jae, a player on the Cardozo Girls Volleyball Team.
“We always do this tournament in October to spread awareness and we also have a few games during the month of October where we commemorate by wearing our pink uniforms,” expressed Girl’s Volleyball Coach Daniel Scarola.
“You always want to bring attention to causes that need support, unfortunately we live in the breast cancer capital of the United States, so we’re working hard to spread awareness, especially knowing some people who suffered with Breast Cancer throughout my life, I think it’s a great cause to spread awareness for, so it’s always important to get all eyes on the issue and try to do our part to raise awareness,” he added.
Kind gestures, such as the ones shown by the Cardozo Girls Volleyball team, help to raise awareness for causes such as these. Remember to wear pink and show your support throughout the month of October.
