There’s nothing quite like watching a good movie with good friends. On Friday, October 13th, Cardozo High School hosted a movie night event on the school’s football field. Students and staff alike came together to watch Coraline, the the selected film. Despite the film being released back in 2009, it has since become a cult classic. This film was a great pick because Halloween is just around the corner.
During the event, snacks like brownies, cookies, and hot cocoa were sold to help people unwind while watching. The school sold tickets for $5 dollars per ticket. And, even though there were only 300 tickets, this was an event students wouldn’t have wanted to miss.
Before the movie started, the field was packed with students and their friends looking for areas to sit and set up. Students bought things like blankets and snacks to keep warm and full during the movie. As the movie was starting all the side conversations had come to an end and the screen had the students undivided attention. Some students considered this “a night full of memories” as they were able to combine both work and fun, attending an entertaining school event.
This was shown through the pictures and videos people were taking while the movie was playing, making sure to capture memories from the night and save them on their phones. Other students described this night as “cheerful” or even just a break from everything going on in school and their personal lives. Despite school being stressful for many students, it can also be a way for them to let loose and have fun with friends at events like these.
This event wouldn’t have happened without help from the stage crew and the Cardozo deans and all of their hard work. Being able to get the screen set up outside and make sure everything was set before allowing students to get on the field—it required a ton of effort. Other events like this are soon to come to Cardozo so be on the lookout you wouldn’t want to miss it!
