As the fall sports season begins, sports tryouts are closing out at Cardozo High School. With that in mind, the new boys’ wrestling team tryouts are opening up soon, for all students who are interested in trying out.
Wrestling is a sport that includes full body conditioning and focus to grab and hold down your opponent for a short period of time. This could benefit the students as they can learn self-defense, increase their stamina and overall stay healthy. To add on, students can build self-confidence and a way to release intense emotions. Furthermore, wrestling could open up new doors, even after the students finish up school they can proceed in wrestling as a career.
The future of the boy’s wrestling team will be led by Coach Milani. He shares that tryouts start on Tuesday, October 10th and is every Tuesday Wednesday Thursday for 3 weeks. The tryouts for boy’s wrestling will be held in room B41.
The wrestling team is a friendly environment with amazing people who will help and improve you throughout the tryouts. “It’s like home, you’re with a family, you’re with brothers. You guys wrestle, you guys work with each other to try to get better to overcome the obstacles that come your way,” Cardozo student Ray Ruiz stated.
All players are rightfully motivated on the team and as Coach Milani stated, “Wrestling’s cool, it’s unique to itself in the sense that it’s an individual sport that has the goal already set for you by trying to be the top wrestler in each weight class.”
According to the students already on the team or trying out, wrestling takes a ton of dedication and maturity. As long as you put effort into it, you will get a good return. If anyone is interested in joining, they can find Coach Milani in room B63.
